PRDC: A challenge for Pig Farm (Part 1)<\/h3>\n

What is PRDC?<\/h3>\n

\u2022 Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex (PRDC) is multi-factorial disease challenges and environmental stressors, mainly effect to the lung.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Synergistic and additive effects from concurrent infections with virus and bacteria in farm.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Affecting the health of the pig and resulting in reduced performance, increased medication costs and increased mortality.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Typically 30-70% of pigs will be affected, with a mortality rate of 4 to 6 per cent, or more depending on the secondary infections.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Always initiated by:<\/p>\n

– Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS).<\/p>\n

– Bordetella bronchiseptica (Bb).<\/p>\n

– Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae.<\/p>\n

At farrowing day: Ceftiofur and Paracetamol+Dichlofenac.<\/p>\n

1 days after farrowed: Ceftiofur and Paracetamol+Dichlofenac.<\/p>\n

At weaning day: ADE 3.<\/p>\n
