End of the year and the holiday season, due to increase in consumption of poultry, there risk of bird flu in humans would be higher if not apply measures to prevent transmission of the virus from birds to humans.

The Ministry of Health recommends that, in order to proactively prevent the spread of avian influenza virus to humans at the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017 festive season, people should not eat poultry products of sickness, death, unknown origin; always have cooked food and drink; wash hands with soap before eating.

Do not slaughter, transport and sale poultry and poultry products of unclear origin.

Upon detection of sick birds, dead birds, people are absolutely not allowed to slaughter or consume. That must immediately be informed to the local authorities, the veterinary units in the province.

When signs of flu such as fever, cough, chest pain, shortness of breath related to poultry appear, people must go to the health facility immediately for advice, timely diagnosis and treatment.

In 2016, particularly in the last months the situation of bird flu in the world has tended to be complicated.
According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), strain of influenza A (H5) continues to be recorded in many countries around the world.

Especially, since June this year, wild birds and poultry in several countries in Europe, Asia, such as Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia and Switzerland were found to be infected with avian influenza A virus (H5N8).

Scientists have identified the link between the cause of death in wild birds, migration and epidemics in poultry farms.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it has been repeatedly recorded cases of the strain of influenza A (H5) as highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1), influenza A (H5N6) in humans in China and Egypt in 2016.

In addition, cases of influenza A (H7N9) were reported scattered in China (124 people).

In particular, on 24/12/2016, China announced that it has recorded cases of influenza A (H9N2) in Guangdong who had a history of contact with live poultry.

In this situation, the World Health Organization has stated that the cases of avian influenza virus infection are often exposed to live poultry or contaminated environments.

The avian influenza virus is not capable of human-to-human transmission, but the risk of infection from arriving or returning passengers from the infected area is entirely possible…
